We made it safely to Cody and since we just got back from the rodeo, I will share some photos from tonight...Romey and I also saw the rodeo 36 years ago. Some of these may not be the best focus....as it's sometimes hard to capture action shots.
Here's a couple of wanna-be cowboys! I love their matching hats.
Upon arrival in Cody, we went to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. It's a huge museum with a section for Buffalo Bill; Natural History; Western Art; Firearms; and Plains Indian. When Romey and I were here, they were dedicating the grand opening of the Plains Indian building and we were lucky enough to participate and tour. Several items I remembered seeing before. Here's a painted hide/blanket of the battle with Custer. You can see him in the yellow outfit. Again, some of these were taken through glass exhibits, may not be the best focus.
The beadwork is phenomenal and remember it was done in the late 1800's!
A photo of a young toddler wearing a beaded outfit and then a similar outfit.
Yesterday, I had a photo of a buffalo with a bird on it's back and today in the Western Art museum, we saw similar sculpture. LOL.
History is stationary, in other words it doesn't change...but the exhibitions of history are ever-changing....in terms of presentation (hands on, audio video, and larger-than-life exhibits).
For dinner tonight we went the Cody Cattle Company and had a buffet dinner....good food and sat at long tables. The couple across from us were from Minnesota. After dinner there was a hour long musical show by the Triple C Cowboys. Very talented and funny!
If you ever get to Cody (it's about 50 miles east of Yellowstone NP), I hope you can do all the things we did today....great food, music, exhibits and rodeo action.
