Badlands Ain't Bad!

We headed west today towards the Black Hills.  Took the route through the Badlands as hubby had never seen them before.  I think this is first time I have heard him use the word, "Wow!"

This photo is one of the "Wow" moments we had today in the Badlands.  Took a gravel road that promised bison and prairie dogs, but had the unexpected surprise of a female Big Horn sheep with newborn triplets.  They are adorable, right?

Here's a close up of their newborn fluffy ears.

Here's the whole family

At another time, a female came right up to the car so I got a close-up.

Here are some photos of the rock formations in the Badlands

Also, saw some pronghorn antelope, this one was very close to road.

Lots of bikers on the road.  Here's a couple heading towards the Black Hills.  Saw thousands of bikes and vehicles hauling bikes going east today, so we imagined that crowds will have thinned out by tomorrow.

But, we may need to re-think that thought, as here is Hill City streets tonight (where we are staying).  And to think, this is almost 60 miles from Sturgis.

Maybe that's why it's also called the Black Hills Rally.  See, I already have my T-Shirt!

A couple of unique sights that we saw today was a storm in the distance dumping rain on Rapid City.

The other sight that I was not able capture on camera were very large rain drops falling from a sun lit sky and the rain drops looked like diamonds falling on our car.  What a blessing from God!
