Years ago, I saw a photo of picturesque Camden, Maine and have wanted to go there since then. Today, I crossed off another destination off my Bucket List. Gorgeous town, friendly people. Here's the sign by the crosswalks....don't forget to wave "thank you" to those that let you walk across the road.
Here's some photos in and around Camden, Maine! I was not disappointed.
Had the cheapest breakfast and one of most tasty breakfast at the Mariner's Restaurant (Red building).
Here's our deck side view.....water falls & harbor!
More views from Camden....
Sailboat masts and church spire!
After Camden, we drove to Bath to the Maine Maritime Museum that focused on ship building in Maine. Bath still has a huge ship building project for the US Navy and employ 5600 people. A photo of their current project.
It was a very interesting museum and we learned there are many facets to ship building and how tedious the project is in time and effort. Upon hearing that one ship was built in seven months, we realized they must have been working night and day and had lots of workers.
For example, below are the deck timbers (two layers) that are cut, planed and sanded first.
Then they caulked the seams with cotton or other material.
Other Maine Attractions we saw today!
Of course, another Maine lighthouse....probably the last lighthouse we'll see on this trip!
